HAITIAN EARTHQUAKE RELIEF, Granted $20,000 to be used partially for emergency relief and partially for long term reconstruction efforts to build a better more prosperous nation.

BAUER RESEARCH FOUNDATION, 411 Wolf Ledges Pkwy, Akron, OH. Granted $10,000 for research and developement for production techniques to manufacture vitimin B-12 anti-cancer treatments.

PROVIDENCE HOUSE, 2037 W. 32nd St. Cleveland, OH 44113. Granted $11,000 to protect at-risk children, prevent child abuse and neglect, and perserve fragile families and provide them safe shelter and loving care including medical, educational, developmental and family stablization services.

BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA, 2241 Woodland Ave, Cleveland, OH 44115. Granted 10,000 to support a the Program Aide Salary who will deliver a quailty Scouting program youth in the City of Cleveland.

TRANSITIONAL HOUSING, INC., 1545 W. 25th Street, Cleveland OH 44113. Granted $20,000 in support of the operations and services including safe housing, supportive services, programs and follow-ups.

THE FREE MEDICAL CLINIC OF GREATER CLEVELAND, 12201 Euclid Ave., Cleveland OH 44106. Granted $20,000 to help provide adult and teen medical, dental, mental health, substance abuse treatment, and HIV/AIDS services to uninsured individuals.


2009 GRANT AWARDS

UNIVERSITY RAINBOW AND BABIES HOSPITAL, 11100 Euclid Ave, Cleveland OH  44106.  Granted $25,000 to continue our 2007 program with naturally occurring small molecules derived from zucchini sprouts with potential properties to prevent carcinomas and other major disease. Latest indications indicate the work is efficacious in stopping sickle cell disease. This grant will fund further investigative work that is expected to lead to human testing in Africa in 2011. 

LUTHERAN METROPOLITAN MINISTRY, 3020 W. 104th St., Cleveland OH 44111. Granted $11,000 as partial funding of a Clinical Supervisor in their crisis shelter for abused, neglected, homeless and runaway 12 to 17 year old adolescents.

REPUBLIC OF THE CONGO. Granted $26,000 for medications and medical service aid to victims of HIV infections and for care of rape victims resulting from the current civil unrest.

UNITED WAY OF GREATER CLEVELAND, 3100 Euclid Ave., Cleveland OH 44114. Granted $5,000 for general operating expense to administer funding to 130 local social service agencies.

UNITED CEREBRAL PALSY, 10011 Euclid Ave., Cleveland OH 44106. Awarded $7,500 for specialized physical training of low income children with severe motor function disabilities to learn basic self care for themselves.

THE WILKINSON CENTER, 5200 Bryan Street, Dallas TX 75206. Granted $5,000 for general operating expenses related to their new Pleasant Grove facility in support of poor and needy area families.

CASA OF COLLIN COUNTY, 112 W. Virginia Street, McKinney TX 75069. Granted $15,000 for general operating expenses for their Court Appointed Special Advocates for children program.

OLD STONE FOUNDATION, 191 Public Square, Cleveland OH 44113. Granted $7,500 for their program to help unwed teen mothers learn parenting and provide day care for their babies while they prepare the mothers for job readiness.

NEW LIFE COMMUNITY, 3470 E. 152 St. Cleveland OH  44120.  Granted $15,000 to help support homeless, jobless single mothers and their children with shelter, job training, job retention, money management, parenting, budgeting, and preparation for GED.

THE ED KEATING CENTER, 6034 Engle Rd. Brook Park OH. Granted $13,000 in support of their "Sober Residential Living Program" which helps 600 men each year in recovery from alcohol and drug dependency.

JOSEPH'S HOME, 2412 Community College Ave., Cleveland OH 4115. Granted $12,500 for general operating expense in support of their mission to provide temporary nursing care for homeless men just doming out of hospitalization.

SUICIDE PREVENTION ALLIANCE, 29425 Chagrin Blvd, Beachwood OH 44122. Granted $5,000 to support instructor salaries in presenting teenage suicide prevention and depression identification in local high schools.

PROVIDENCE HOUSE, 2037 W. 32nd St. Cleveland OH 44113. Granted $12,000 to provide protection for at-risk babies and children, prevention of child abuse and preservation of families.

ST. AUGUSTINE CENTER, 2486 W. 14th St., Cleveland OH  44113.  Granted $10,000 as transitional funding for their Hunger Center which serves the poor, homeless and disabled in the Fremont area. 

PROJECT H.O.P.E. 799 E. 82 Street, Cleveland OH  44103.  Granted  $10,000 in support of their programs to provide medical services for homeless, and other neighborhood low-income adults by providing direct assistance with prescriptions, eye care, dental care and referrals to local clinics. 

ALTERNATERM PREGNANCY SERVICES, 2026 Lee Rd., Cleveland Ht's., OH  44118.  Granted $10,000 for general operating expenses counseling low income individuals during unplanned pregnancies.

CARE ALLIANCE HEALTH CENTER, 1530 St. Clair Ave. Cleveland OH  44114.  Granted $20,000 to begin a volunteer recruitment program that would seek and train volunteers to do some of the work now done by paid staff, thus reducing pressure for new hiring.

FUNDERS COLLABORATIVE. Granted $50,000 toward a joint program with 13 other Cleveland foundations that would identify, instruct and promote mergers or collaborations between non-profits with the goal of reducing redundant costs thus increasing dollars available for increased client service.

BELLFLOWER CENTER FOR PREVENTION OF ABUSE TO CHILDREN ,  Granted $5,000  for general operating support for individualized therapy for needy children who have suffered trauma from abusive caregivers.

BOYS & GIRS CLUBS OF CLEVELAND Granted $10,000 to provide after school programs for inner city youth designed to keep them engaged in healthy activities and prevent gang violence.

2008 GRANT AWARDS

CYCLONE AND EARTHQUAKE RELIEF. $6,000 to American Red Cross and Catholic Relief Services for emergency aid for the Myanmar Cyclone Disaster and to China for earthquake relief.

BEREA CHILDREN’S HOME, 202 Bagley Rd, Berea OH  44107.  Granted $20,000 for operating support in their Community Services Division witch helps needy and mentally disadvantaged children and their families attain self sufficiency, enhance family stability, reduce the need for future intervention and help adults find employment.

COMMUNITY ASSESSMENT AND TREATMENT SERVICES, 8415 Broadway Ave , Cleveland OH .  Granted $20,126 to provide an additional one year of housing and employment for chemical dependant addicts that have completed the basic three month recovery program.

UNITED WAY OF GREATER CLEVELAND , 3100 Euclid Ave., Cleveland OH 44114. Granted $5,200 for general operating expense to administer funding to 130 local social service agencies.

HARVEST FOR HUNGER, 1331 Euclid Ave., Cleveland OH 44114. Granted $7,000 toward their Student Leadership Program designed to help students run food drives in their schools, learn how to pack food bags for for pantry distribution and actually work at least one day in a local food pantry.

CLEVELAND FURNITURE BANK , 6610 Biddulph Ave, Cleveland OH 44144. Granted $5,000 to help pickup, store and distribute used clothing and furniture to needy individuals referred by local social service agencies.

THE WILKINSON CENTER, 5200Brson St., Dallas TX 75206. Granted $10,400 in partial support of a Homelessness Prevention Case Manager at their on site Food Pantry. This program is expected to assist about 600 clients who are in immediate risk of eviction and are motivated to avoid homelessness.

COVENANT ADOLESCENT CHEMICAL DEPENDANCY TREATMENT AND PREVENTION, 1515 W. 29th Street, Cleveland OH 44113. Granted $10,000 in partial support to implement community based integrated Systems of Care program which has proven successful in treatment for multi-need youth while minimizing need for inpatient or residential treatment services.

INTERFAITH HOSPITALITY NETWORK, 2592 W. 14th Street, Cleveland OH 44113. Granted $15,000for this consortium of churches and synagogue to house, feed, and train homeless facilities and to obtain employment and become independent of further agency assistance.

SENIOR RESOURCE CENTER, 3100 Devonshire, Cleveland OH.  Granted $15,000 to partially fund cost of picking up seniors at their homes and transport them to meal programs, doctors visit, prescription pick-up, food pantries, etc.  71% of these seniors are at or below the Federal Poverty Guidelines.

VOLUNTEERS OF AMERICA, 2710 Walton Ave., Cleveland OH 44113. Granted $7,000 to help fund part tine out-reach teams who search homeless encampments and engage them to establish trust and link them with other community resources.

BROKEN CONNECTIONS 12832 Euclid AVe., East Cleveland 44112. Granted $20,000 to provide housing and training for four homeless residents of East Cleveland for four months after which they will have regular full time jobs in the construction industry be self sufficient thereafter.

CLEVELAND CLINIC, TAUSIG CANCER RESERCH CENTER. 9500 Euclid Ave, Cleveland OH 44195. Granted $35,000 for Stage 2 testing of a novel anti-cancer drug that is designed to be selectively attracted to cancer cells. After entering the cell the new drug emits a poison that destroys the cancer.

KIDNEY FOUNDATION OF OHIO, 2831 Prospect Ave., Cleveland OH 44115. Granted $10,000 for case management advocacy programs to low income individuals and families to obtain help from local, state, and federal agencies for renal treatment.

MURTIS TAYLOR HUMAN SERVICES 13422 Kinsman Ave. Cleveland OH 44120. Granted $20,000 in support of the rationalization of three Southeast Cleveland Community Centers into one that will result in important cost savings .during times of shrinking revenues.

TRANSITIONAL HOUSING INC. 1545 W. 25th Street, cleveland OH 44113. Granted $20,000 to partially cover the salary of a Program Director/Associate Director who is responsible to see that the philosophy, mission and policies of the entire organization are fulfilled.
