2012 Grant Awards

UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL CASE MEDICAL CENTER, Psychiatry Department, 10524 Euclid Ave., Cleveland OH 44106.  Granted for a two year research study to assist homeless men and women with schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder improve treatment outcomes.  This population is historically at high risk for treatment non-adherence.  Inadequate adherence is associated with poor outcomes such as relapse, homelessness, hospitalization, increased health care costs and felony recidivism.   This pilot will recruit 30 homeless men and women who are willing to receive long lasting injectable psychotropic medication in combination wit psychosocial council designed to improve treatment adherence.  The goal of the study is to improve adherence in these individuals, which will in turn reduce/prevent future homelessness/return to incarceration.

SUICIDE PREVENTION EDUCATION, 29425 Chagrin Blvd., Cleveland OH 44122. Granted to support the Recognizing Adolescent Depression and Suicide Prevention program to help prevent youth suicide and those that are suffering from major depression and/or are at risk of suicide.

YOUTH OPPORTUNITIES UNLIMITED, 1361 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland OH 44115. Granted for general operating support to help empower youth to succeed in school, workplace and in life.

BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA, Cleveland Council, 2241 Woodland Avenue, Cleveland OH 44115. Granted for general operating support to help the Scoutreach Scout Program for inner city youth.

FATIMA FAMILY CENTER, 6600 Lexington Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44103. Granted to be designated to use in support of the Summer Camp program. Fatima Family Center must double the number of children in their summer camp from 20-40 and that 60% of students are boys.

VOCATIONAL GUIDANCE SERVICES, 2239 East 55th Street, Cleveland OH 44103. Granted to be used for general operating support for the Vocational Rehabilitation and Social Enterprise services.

CLEVELAND FOOD BANK, 15500 South Waterloo Road, Cleveland OH 44110. Granted  to be used for general operating support.

ST. MALACHI CENTER, 2416 Superior Viaduct, Cleveland OH 44113. Granted to be designated in support of the After School Program (ASP) in 2012.

COGSWELL HALL, INC., 7200 Franklin Blvd., Cleveland OH 44102. Granted to support the expansion of Supportive Services. This grant will expand the hours of supportive services to provide crisis intervention to all residents every weekday until 9:30pm and weekends 12:30pm to 9:30pm.
